AI Agent: What It Can—and Can’t—Do

What the AI Agent Can (and Can’t) Do—Today

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping how we interact with e-commerce—but it’s essential to separate hype from reality. At Digitol, our AI Agent is real, practical, and purpose-built for helping customers find the right products faster than ever before. But it’s also evolving rapidly. We want to be upfront about where things stand now, and what’s coming next.

Let’s set clear boundaries—so our guests know exactly what to expect from the AI experience today, and how it will grow in the months ahead.

✅ What the AI Agent Can Do Right Now

The current AI experience is tightly focused on product discovery, especially for consumables like ink and toner cartridges. With over 10,000 SKUs in this category alone, conventional store search is often clunky and slow. That’s where AI shines.

When a guest enters their printer model, the AI-guided workflow simplifies selection using just three follow-up questions:

  1. Do you prefer OEM, Remanufactured, or New-Build Compatible?

  2. What’s your approximate monthly print volume? (Low, Medium, High)

  3. Do you require MICR toner for check printing?

Based on these inputs, the AI quickly filters results to a single, relevant SKU—removing guesswork, friction, and catalog fatigue.

This delivers AI-assisted speed and accuracy that far outpaces the “search bar” experience of legacy dealer websites.

❌ What the AI Agent Does Not Do (Yet)

To avoid confusion and ensure transparency, it’s important to clarify what the AI Agent is not currently equipped to handle:

  • Order Tracking
The AI cannot check order status, delivery timelines, or tracking updates. These are handled through the dealer’s standard post-purchase communications.

  • Customer Service Interactions
Price inquiries, availability questions, product specs beyond what’s listed, or account-specific requests are not supported at this time.

  • Data-Driven Insights
While the AI platform will eventually generate usage trends and purchase behavior insights, those analytics are not yet part of the live experience.

  • Transactional Support
The AI does not place or process orders—it strictly assists with narrowing product selection before the cart.

🚀 What’s Coming Soon

The future is unfolding quickly. Our roadmap includes:

  • AI-driven order status and tracking

  • Real-time product availability

  • Personalized recommendations based on behavior

  • Support for contract pricing visibility

  • Natural language customer service capabilities

  • Insights dashboards for dealers

These features will be released on a rolling basis—with several updates already in active development.

Setting Expectations Without Limiting Vision

Today’s AI Agent is a laser-focused tool for precision product discovery, helping guests quickly find the exact supplies they need. It’s not a full-service assistant—yet. But with a rapid deployment roadmap, Digitol is committed to expanding its capabilities and redefining what dealers and customers can expect from an e-commerce experience.

We ask for your patience, your curiosity—and your feedback—as we continue to shape this powerful new platform.
